Clinton Kelly Macy’s Event

Have you ever been to a Macy’s event? Not until I delved into the blogging world did I ever know that Macys has events. This past summer I went to a cooking demonstration with Ming Tsai. A few weeks back, the infamous fashion expert Clinton Kelly, currently of the television show The Chew, as well as the makeover guru from What Not To Wear, hosted a Macy’s fashion event. Clinton Kelly provided fashion tips for the holiday season.

I’m a mother of a 3 year old and I work full time in a school system as an occupational therapist. During the day I sit cross legged on carpets, many times crawling on my hands and knees. Fashion sense is something I have spent very minimal time caring about. Why invest in clothing that is going to get ruined from being smattered in marker and paint? Though I did try very hard to find something to wear to this event that was fashionable… for me. Check out the color of my shirt and read below. Looks like I need to color up my wardrobe.

Take my word for it, there were hundreds of on-lookers, not only viewing over the fashion trends, but laughing in hysterics as Clinton Kelly shared some of his infamous fashion sense and these were his words of wisdom.

– “Put a little something cute on and it puts a little pep in your step!”

-“The higher the ‘girls’ the closer to God–get a good bra fitting.”

-“Black clothing brings at shadows in your face, brighter colors brighten up your complexion.”

-“Mix and match your labels.”

-“Cross body bags are good for the small to medium chested.”

-“Colored denim is the biggest trend of the season.”

-“This year, it’s a trend to match your bag and your shoes.”

-“Make it look like you are not wearing hose, or make it known that you ARE wearing hose.”

-“Get a knit blazer.”

-“Mix and match metallics.”

-“Avoid ‘The Mom Jean’ aka light washed tapered jeans.”

-“Stacking necklaces is a really big trend. Make it look like you are wearing 1 big necklace.”

-“The shoe sets the tone for an outfit.”

-“Accessories should be commensurate w/ stature – taller, bigger framed women can have more accessories.”

-“Tuck a skinny jean into a boot, it creates a straight line or wear a top or jacket that cuts mid-hip.”

-“Jeans exist to make your butt look cute.”

My personal favorite: “Is this a trend that a hooker would look at & say, that’s got to be good for business? Avoid the trampy trends.”

Clinton Kelly’s final thought: “Never hate yourself. Our bodies are the vessels that God gave us to carry our souls around.”
