Stokke Tripp Trapp High Chair Review

True to my baby registry Monday post (though it’s a bit early this week!), the hidden gem of the day is the Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair. I was first made aware of this chair during my daily work as an occupational therapist. As many children have generally weak core strength, this ultimately impacts their eating, so we are constantly on the hunt for a product that provides proper positioning for mealtimes. Without good posture, it is much harder to work on the smaller muscles of control required for finger feeding and improved chewing.

The Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair has been an amazing discovery. Yes, it’s wooden design goes with the décor of any home, the height is perfect for your child to sit close to the table to engage in the social aspects of mealtime with the family, there is a removable liner that can washed, and this chair will grow from infancy to even adulthood. I am small enough to sit in one comfortably myself!

I think this chair is simply amazing, mainly due to the footrest design. Many commercial highchairs and booster seats do not allow children to have their feet supported and this is an especially great benefit to those children with limited strength. With your feet supported, posture improves, and a child can then focus on developing their oral motor skills for chewing and fine motor skills for self-feeding. With school aged children this is a great seat to use for homework, the same posture techniques are required to allow for better fine motor control needed for legibility when handwriting.

Send this along to all your friends, in my opinion this is a great product.
