Wikki Stix

There are certain crayons, markers, toys and tools that live in the bag of every occupational therapist. Wikki Stix, are simply, colored strips made of wax and yarn that can be squished, twisted, and bent into anything your heart desires.  They are a very lightweight product that can easily fit inside a purse that will help your children pass the time waiting for food in any restaurant while working on educational skills as well! They are non-toxic, will never dry out and are completely re-usable. They are a little sticky to the touch, but your hands will not stain and once you wash them, no residue will remain on them.

This board book for ages 3 and up encourages children to follow directions by adding Wikki Stix to the pictures. For example, give a clown extra curly red hair, add ribbons to a package, add laces to shoes, and a tail to a kite! The book comes with 36 Wikki Stix.

For Preschool Age Students Try Wikki Stix Basic Shapes Creative Fun Kits!

Wikki Stix Basic Shapes Creative Fun Kit

For younger children working on their design copying skills, I encourage them to use their Wikki Stix to recreate these designs with the same colors. For children who understand and can sequence numbers, you can attach the Wikki Stix to the cards in a dot to dot fashion to learn basic shapes such as a stop signs, circles, squares, and hearts. This kit contains 72 Wikki Stix.

For children learning to color in the lines, you can outline the picture with a Wikki Stix to encourage your child to learn to stay inside the boundaries trying not to color outside of the Wikki Stix.

For Preschoolers and Kindergarten Students Try Wikki Stix Alphabet Cards

Wikki Stix Alphabet Cards

Wikki Stix Alphabet Cards allow children to learn the steps of upper and lowercase letter formation, by pushing the Wikki Stix onto the cards from the top to the bottom. This kit contains 36 Wikki Stix.

Is your child learning to write letters and having a hard time staying in the boundaries of the dotted lines? Place a green Wikki Stix on the top line, and a red Wikki Stix just below the bottom writing line.  Encourage the child to start at the top at the green Wikki Stix and end at the bottom by the red Wikki Stix.  This raised boundary can also be helpful for children to successfully size and position their letters in the proper space and directly on the bottom line.

Wikki Stix provided the above cards and Wikki Stix free to facilitate a review. The opinions expressed in this blog post are purely the bloggers own.
